Meet Jordan Crooks
Jordan Crooks is a highly accomplished swimmer who grew up in the Cayman Islands. He is one of the best swimmers to come from that area and was the first from the Cayman Islands to advance to an Olympic final.
Growing up in the Cayman Islands, Jordan spent his childhood swimming, free diving, and fishing and believes those experiences set him up for success as a competitive swimmer. He was the first person in his family to pursue swimming seriously, and started competing nationally at the age of 11. He’s always felt very supported by his community as he’s pursued his swimming career.
Eventually, Jordan moved away from the Cayman Islands to advance further at the University of Tennessee. Since then, he has earned many achievements and broken world records, becoming one of the most decorated Vols in Tennessee Athletics history. Some notable achievements include:
2024 Paris Olympian (a first for the Cayman Islands)
2x SEC Swimmer of the Year (2023, 2025)
3x World Championship medalist (2022, 2024)
World record of 19.90 seconds in the short course 50-meter freestyle (2024)
27x SEC medalist
4x NCAA Champion (setting new records in 2025 for 200 and 400 yard freestyle relays)
In an interview with Swimming World Magazine, Jordan shared how his pre-race consistency has led to victory. He focuses on visualization to picture his previous races to see where he can improve. This practice is sure to take Jordan even further in his career in the years to come.
“It means the world to me to represent my country. I feel a great sense of pride every time I step onto the blocks. I hope my achievements can inspire other young swimmers back home.”
